Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a terminal illness. We understand that medical therapies and outpatient care will impact the prognosis. This session will review this disease and provide a better understanding of the prognosis, incidence, and the natural history of the disease. We will review the clinical features of ALS and review therapies for disease and symptom management. Finally, when is it time to consider a Home Health referral to Hospice? (CME Offered)

Palliative Care: Case Studies and Perspectives

Join Dr. Elizabeth Golding for an in depth and eye-opening discussion on the lived experience of being a palliative care provider before and during the pandemic. Dr. Golding will share insights and thoughts on these lived experiences. There will also be a time for interactive case studies, audience discussion and reflection on the true purpose of palliative care and how palliative care has adapted through challenging times to meet the ever-increasing and evolving needs of patients and families. Dr. Golding will conclude with discussion on ways to continue to advocate for palliative care education, and improved access to palliative care. (CME Offered)
